Baby H. C.

For all the orders that I've done I think I've only done ONE other boy item.. and that was just a crib skirt. So this set was really neat to put together, because it let me use all the boy tones and prints that are really cute for a baby's room. This mom and I worked hard to get colors and patterns to match up. We tried several different combinations until we found 6 fabrics that worked perfectly. And after getting the set (almost) complete and seeing it in her baby's room, definitely made the time it took to decide onthe fabrics. :)

We chose these fabrics:
Urban Circus by Laurie Wisbrun / Robert Kaufman - Pachyderm Parade in Earth (lt. blue elephant)
Urban Circus by Laurie Wisbrun / Robert Kaufman - Pachyderm Dot in Earth (green elephant)
Moda Wee Woodland Stripe Orange by Keiki
Khristian Howell - Theory / Rainforest Leaves in Seaside
Robert Kaufman - Groove Abstract Earth
Khristian A Howell - Lattice in Sierra (brown lattice)

I started with the bumper:

Sewn the two sides together with the piping and ties, leaving an opening in the bottom to put the Nufoam bumper pad into..

Did the same for the other pieces, and now the bumper pad is done!

Then while at a friend house for a craft day/night, I was able to do the crib skirt and the crib sheet...

Next I worked on the two curtain panels, piecing them together..

Lined the back of them with a muslin fabric, and put tab tops on the top of them. Her window is a shorter window than mine here, shorter and wider. So there are two curtain panels made identical to this one shown.

Lastly, I made the changing pad cover, which fits contoured or flat changing pads. They have full elastic all the way around.

I still have to make the Crib Hanging Toy Bag, and the Crib Quilt. But I wanted to send these items to her as soon as they were done because little H was coming soon! I'll finish up these other two items and will blog them next week. :)

She got her package today in the mail and set things up and was nice enough to send me pics by text! Her Mother-In-Law was still ironing out the folds in the curtain panels, so we didn't get any pics of those yet. But Im looking forward to seeing them and then adding the other items to the baby room next week!

SE Michigan Crafter's Meet-up / Etsy order Crib Skirt

I've been reading made-by-rae for awhile now, and have heard recently that she actually lives in MI. In the late fall she started up these crafter's meetups, where her blog readers would get together and work on their crafty items. The meetings that they have had so far have been a little more out of my way than I was willing to drive. But there must have been enough input, including myself, that she wanted to venture out west a little more, and planned a meetup in Ann Arbor. So I met Rae and Karen and these other blog crafters at The Blue House in Ann Arbor on Monday night. We all brought sweets, snacks, and of course our sewing.
I invited Brenda to come along, and we got to chat to a few girls about the new Modern Quilting Guild in Ann Arbor as well. Im excited to see this guild grow as well. One thing that happened that was pretty neat, I was talking with a girl at my table, Emily for a bit. About our kids, crafts, new house stuff.. and then we exchanged blog addresses so we could stalk read up on each others blogs. When she handed me her blog address, I got excited and said, "OMG, you're EmmmyLizzzy!! I read your blog!" And then she replies, "Oh, you're THAT LeeAnn!" LOL! It was too funny.. Such a small world in the blogging world. What threw me off is, there is a picture on her blog of her as a blond. Its a small pic, so you can't really see her face to be recognized in person. But she acknowledged, that yes, she used to be blond. lol. Anyways, I met some really great girls there and look forward to meeting up with them again.
I won't be able to make it to the March meeting, since its on a work night. So hopefully the April meeting will be doable for me. :)

During the night, I worked on an Etsy order for a crib skirt with this fabric:
It is Timeless Treasures Organic Cotton “The Mighty Jungle”
I was able to start and finish it completely in the 3.5 hours that I was there. Although I'm sure it doesn't normally take me that long, but when you are sewing with company... well you know.. its just more fun that way. :)
So I had to model the crib skirt on my coffee table this time. My son was sleeping in his crib for the night. And I wanted to get this packaged up and shipped out on Wednesday morning. But wanted to take pics of it before it left my hands.
This is the Simple Box Pleat Crib Skirt listed here in my shop.
Thank You Jennifer for your business! :)

Another cool thing... At this meet up, the girl that was sitting in front of me was making a baby quilt for her new nephew thats arriving soon, and she was using this fabric, along with the other ones in the collection.
We were fabric twins for the night! lol.

Just need to add the ribbon, batting and staple on the third one.

Bumper Pad

I can finally put all this polyester filling to some use!!

I got an awesome deal at JoAnns on this stuff because it was considered a Christmas item. It was on sale for $1.27 for a 24 oz. bag! Definitely beats the regular price of $6.99 a bag that you would normally pay. And it's no different! There is no glitter or frill to this batting, just plain ol' buffalo snow. ;)
After many hours on these ties, I finally was able to sew them and the piping to the main fabric. After breaking two needles in trying to get through the thickness, we've got it all sewn up. Well almost. I left a hole in each of the four panels on the bottom for stuffing the batting.
It was getting late tonight, but I really wanted to get one panel stuffed to see what it will look like. I'm very happy to say that i think it will look beautiful. I can't wait to show Kristy and Brandon.

More for Baby Warner

This week I finished the quilt top she wanted.

I layered it with 2 layers of the bamboo batting and began pinning.

The Quilting was a very few, easy stitches. Twice around the border and two lines down the toile. Front:

The ribbon I picked up couldn't be a better match. :)

The bedding and the ribbon couldn't have been a better match. (even though it appear blue here). I sewn the ribbon strips onto the quilt and the am able to tie them into bows.

I've also got this cute chair that is also being converted to match the bedding set. It's this bright red velvety material. I was lucky enough to find a white/off white colored slip cover at IKEA for $30. But the chair seat is a little different. It has these 'wings' that come out. So I have made a slip cover for this seat cushion.

I cut out the pieces, installed the zipper...

And sewn them all up!!

I do need to take a look at the actual chair and fix the difference in arms/ wings on their. But at least I have extra fabric to work with on the chair cover.
Next I was able to get the car seat cover done. This is cute because I was able to show both prints.

I cut full length slits into the cover and applied snaps to make the closure around the straps. This way the straps dont have to be removed to put the cover on and off the seat.

I made a boppy pillow cover out of the French toile. This has a fold over flap in the back to get the pillow in and out of the cover for washing.

The back:

And finally have all 44 ties turned inside out! This was very tedious and thankfully a few coworkers helped me out tonight!
